Year 3 of The Ramateur was another success, played over the weekend of Dec. 3-4, 2022 (with a special GlowBall kickoff on Friday night, Dec. 2). And the four champions taking home the coveted Ram trophies this season were: Keldon Moldre (overall gross), Trevor Broadwell (bighorn flight), Steven Silvis (coyote flight) and Michael Campbell (roadrunner flight). Both Moldre (72-74) and Broadwell (69-77) shot two-day totals of 146 with Moldre winning the tiebreaker.

As always, The Ramateur couldn’t happen each year without the help of many friends and sponsors.

Prizes, giveaways and swag were provided courtesy of TaylorMade Golf, Tyler Golf Bags, Crafted Brand CompanyMetalwood StudiosThe Golfer’s Journal and The Number Thirty Three. T-shirts from Ethika designed by Gijo Tirado were included in the Tee Gift packages along with custom Bag Tags by Bay Wood Makery, which have become a collectable staple of Rams Hill Signature Events.

In addition to Rams Hill’s Saturday-night cookout, plus Ram Shack Tacos and Apple-Caramel Cookies, Food & Drink partners included Cutwater Spirits and Good Walk Coffee Company on the Putting Green — and fan-favorite on-course pizza by La Jolla’s Wheat + Water and beer from Dogleg Brewing Company.

And although a few participants gave the Hole-in-One contest on the par-3 No. 9 a good run, nobody walked away from The Ramateur with the prize from North County Buick-Cadillac-GMC. There’s always next year — or The Clash two-player competition (coming in Spring 2023 — watch for the announcement of dates and registration).

New to The Ramateur this season, participants had the opportunity to “Light Up The Night” with a special Friday-night GlowBall event on the Rams Hill Practice Range, sponsored by photographer Brian Oar’s Golf Illuminated project — where Trevor Broadwell also took home some hardware for going the lowest at night, winning a Golf Illuminated MetalPrint of the par-4 17th hole.
