Fun, beer, pizza and more highlight Rams Hill Golf Club’s inaugural two-player tourney
As the 2020-2021 Rams Hill golf season comes to a close, The Clash brought a diverse field to the Tom Fazio-designed course for two days of fun two-player-team competition plus prizes, raffle items and oh-so-much food (everything from beer, pizza and tacos on course to a Saturday-night Steak Cookout to our famous apple-caramel cookies after each round).
On the heels of The Ramateur in December, The Clash is the second event of Rams Hill Golf Club’s new one-two punch that looks to become a tradition for years to come. 36 holes were played over May 22-23, 2021, with two first-time championship teams crowned (one gross, one net) while others took home Closest to the Pin honors. And one player (Robbie Matz) came close — very close — to winning a new Buick on the par-3 16th when he hit the stick and landed just an inch away from a hole in one. The Hole in One contest was sponsored by North County Cadillac-Buick-GMC in Escondido.
“We’ve taken our annual events up another notch with The Clash,” says Wil Mayo, Rams Hill’s director of golf sales and business development. “More sponsors, more giveaways, more food-and-beverage options — including Dogleg Brewing Company and Wheat & Water pizza — all day Saturday. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we’re already working on how to make The Ramateur and The Clash even better, can’t-miss events next season.”
In addition to North County Cadillack-Buick-GMC, sponsors of The Clash included Good Walk Coffee Company on property for both days; tee gifts by Seamus Golf and TaylorMade; and prizes and raffle items from Garrett Leight Sunglasses, Lululemon, The Golfer’s Journal, MNML Golf, Vice Golf, Lie + Loft, Indi Golf, Radda, Golphers and Stymie Golf. “Having all of these industry brands support The Clash and Rams Hill means a lot to us — and meant a lot to this year’s participants,” Mayo says. “We couldn’t put on these kinds of high-end events for the golfers who love Rams Hill without the help of our many friends throughout Southern California and beyond.”

What’s Next?
Registration for next season’s installment of The Clash (May 21-22, 2022) opens July 16. And Rams Hill is already taking early signups for The Ramateur (Dec. 4-5, 2021). The field is limited for both events, so book as soon as possible to secure your spot and lodging.
