News from the Pro Shop: An August Update

I am picturing some of you playing golf on the coast or in the mountains somewhere that you might need a light jacket in the morning. That sounds soooo good as I type this with it being over 100 degrees outside. Some of the merchandise for the golf shop has been ordered for this upcoming season which will be here before you know it. The golf shop will have a fresh new look this season. What’s Happening in the Pro Shop

Final Sale of the Season is Underway! A great season is coming to a close. Despite some unusual weather, Rams Hill still had a successful golf season thanks to our incredible golf course which draws players from all over the world. The golf course has been in excellent condition the entire season. So many guests and members had wonderful comments as they came through the golf shop after completing their rounds. The entire golf staff made a great effort to make all of our members and guests feel welcome when they arrived here at Rams Hill. Next season's Men’s and Ladies' tournament schedules have already been posted. We are already looking forward to next season’s opening event. Spring has Sprung

By Bob Gelesko, Head Golf Professional Summer is right around the corner! It has been nice having some warmer weather to enjoy after experiencing a cooler than normal winter. This season has flown by so quickly. There is only one more 9 & Wine scheduled on May 19th. The Frying Pan Tournament has been scheduled for June 2nd. The golf course was in wonderful condition all through the season. The golf shop staff received many nice compliments from guests and members about the golf course condition throughout the season. Plans are underway for next season already. The Men’s and Ladies tournament schedules have already been completed for the 2019/2020 season. Tune Up Your Golf Game with Our New Simulator

Speaking of fun…the new golf swing simulator is here and ready for use by our members and guests. You can now play a round at Pebble Beach without leaving Borrego Springs. There are 84 golf courses to choose from or we can set up a driving range practice session to measure your swing speed, launch angle, spin rate and other important measurements such as total yardage and carry yardage of each shot. Improve Your Chipping in 6 Easy Steps

By Bob Gelesko, Head Golf Professional "Chipping" is a popular term we use in golf that refers to a shot taken in proximity to the green. Once successfully hit, the ball is briefly shot into the air, lands on the green and rolls (hopefully) into the hole. The shots are useful when something lies in between you and the hole such as fringe that prevents you from putting. If you want to improve chipping, read our suggestions below so you can navigate the green successfully. Try chipping with different clubs from all around the green instead of the same spot to improve your chipping.
